How should you ask for money? Law and ethics of fundraising

When you ask people for money, are you sure you’re doing it in the right way?

Wherever, whenever, and however you fundraise, there are rules and guidelines that you should be following so that you can be confident that you are fundraising properly.

This session from Daniel Fluskey, Head of Policy and Research at the Institute of Fundraising will provide you with an overview of the topic and use practical examples to take you through:

• the legal essentials that you need to know

• an overview of the IoF’s Code of Practice

• ethical issues in fundraising (and how to deal with them!), and

• common questions and how to avoid the pitfalls!

#GivingTuesday: how students can lead an international campaign

In 2012, #GivingTuesday was established in the USA as a national day of giving. In 2013, the campaign spread to 7 more countries and became one of the biggest giving days in the world. On Tuesday 2nd December #GT is coming to the UK, and we want students to be the driving force behind this year’s campaign. RAG societies are perfectly placed to help #GT spread all over the country, and make #GTUK the world leading campaign. This is a chance for students to lead the UK in a day of giving time and money, and presents RAGs with the opportunity to make your mark on what is becoming one of the biggest fundraising and volunteering days in the world.
